CVS is also known as digital eye syndrome and can result in specific conditions such as:


  • Eyestrain and fatigue.
  • Blurred or double vision.
  • Dry eyes.
  • Tearing, red, or itchy eyes.
  • Neck and shoulder pain.

So, how do you ease CVS? Here are a few pointers:


Reduce Screen Glare


When light reflects off your digital device, screen glare occurs. The light could be coming from nearby windows or overhead lights. This can lead to digital eye syndrome. To eliminate or reduce screen glare, you can dim the overhead lights or use lower wattage light bulbs. 


You can also close the curtains, blinds, or shades when using the digital device. Additionally, you can add a glare filter to your computer screen.


Reposition Your Computer


Sitting too close to a computer screen can result in eyestrain. Eye health experts recommend a distance of about 20 to 28 inches between your eyes and the digital screen. Also, tilt it to an angle between 10 to 20 degrees. 


It should also roughly be about four to five inches below your eye level. This ensures you are not tilting your neck in any way. Increasing the font size, brightness, contrast also helps.


Adjusting Your Posture


You risk suffering eyestrain if your posture is poor. Hence, you must design your workstation in a manner that is good for your posture when working on your computer. Also, remember the following:


  • Avoid slouching or hunching. Ensure your shoulders are in a relaxed position.
  • Avoid leaning your neck and head forward. When you sit up straight, your shoulders and ears should align.
  • Ensure your chair gives your back ample support. Also, it should be the right height to avoid strain.


Using the Right Eyeglasses


For people who wear glasses, ensuring you have the correct prescription is imperative. Wrong prescription glasses make it hard for you to focus, increasing the chances of headaches and eyestrain.


Using Eye Drops


You can use lubricating eye drops to moisturize your eyes. They are readily available over-the-counter or from your eye doctor. They may assist in reducing the symptoms of computer vision syndrome. You can consult your doctor if normal eye drops do not work. They can recommend a prescription eye drop to treat your CVS.
